I was a classmate of Flip at SJP and we spent good times enjoying the spacious grounds. Later he was at Catholic Aid and I went with my dad to their annual conventions.

On this anniversary I remember Flip and the manh good times we had at St. John's Prep. We visited at Catholic Aid, whose conventions my dad attended for years, and with our classmate Dave Durenberger at dinner. May he rest in peace and may his family continue his warmth and generosity.

I’m saddened to hear of your loss but know your dad is at peace with your mom now.

So sorry for your loss. He is surely home with our Lord and His dear wife Pat. We loved sitting by him in church and considered him part of our church family. He always had time for a visit at cub too!
You have our deepest sympathy.

My sympathy to the Spanier family. I met Flip in 1949 when I transferred from Cretin High School in St. Paul to St. John's Prep. Flip and I were among a group which hung around together--with long walks in the woods. He introduced me to St. Martin, MN. Later I was delighted he too over Catholic Aid--my grandfather had been an active member and officer and my dad went to the conventions--one in Avon while I was at St. John's. Catholic Aid was an important part of the German-American experience. May Flip rest in peace along the shores of Lake Sagatagan with the prayers of the Benedictines to whom we both owed so much.

It was a privilege to know Flip and to serve beside him on various Catholic community boards. His integrity was constantly manifest. And he managed at the same time to be self-effacing and quite insistent in offering advice. He held himself to high standards, and did the same in the ministries he advanced.
