I came across this bad news being I also have family and friends retired from 3M, after coming back home retired from a career as a Air Force P.J. To care take my own elderly folks, I find I am having to write too many of these, friends, family, and people who have touched my life and I have not forgotten, to a young guy at the time dating one of Gerry's daughters, he couldn't have been a nicer guy, that's why even though I hadn't seen Gerry in 35 years, I still thought of him and his family. He was very into learning German at the time, and had hoped with my Desert Storm deployments where I spent a lot of time in Germany, I was hoping to run into him and surprise him with my German. Gerry also came to mind not long ago as since coming home I put a band together of old coots, I was telling my lifelong friend who also met Gerry "I WONDER WHAT OLE GERRY MULLNER IS UP TO!" as we needed a piano and Gerry was an awesome player. Great guy and my condolences to family.

I worked with Jerry for 10 years at 3M in Optimized Operations (O2). I have so many wonderful memories of working with and socializing with Jerry. The young engineers he molded loved working with Jerry. His manager colleagues also enjoyed being around Jerry. His quick wit and sense of humor were infectious.
I feel badly that I was in Brazil for work when he retired from 3M and unable to say goodbye. I was in Europe when I was informed of his death and memorial. Again, I missed an opportunity to say goodbye to a friend and colleague I liked and admired. Goodbye my friend!!
To Joyce and the rest of jerry's family, you have my sincere condolence for your loss. Jerry will be greatly missed!

My sincere condolences in the loss of your beloved.

Or 80 if one is especially strong.

I can still see Jerry with his hillbilly hat, playing his accordion at one of our many pig roasts. Also the many great times we had at his "place in the woods" near Frederick, WI and I have many memories of years of successful deer hunting out at Jerry's hunting shack. Also, the wild and crazy times at Christmas parties, smelt fishing, canoeing trips, fly-in fishing in Canada, and many other adventures. Unfortunately, we didn't see much of Jerry after he retired, but he must have certainly enjoyed retirement at his new home in the woods near Frederick.
I think I can say without reservation, that Jerry Mullner was one of the most "unforgettable characters" I've known.
