Grant Patrick Lawless

Of Edina, MN - Passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2010 Grant was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on November 10, 1917. He graduated from Cretin High School and the University of Minnesota as a Chemical Engineer. Grant was employed at SC Johnson & Son in Racine, WI for 36 years retiring in 1982. Grant was a member of the AIChE and GoldenKiwanis. In Racine, Grant and his wife of 64 years, Roberta Jean (Rickard) raised 7 children. Following Grant's retirement the couple returned to the Twin Cities area to make their home. Roberta Jean preceded him to heaven in 2006. Surviving are their children, Cecilia Souders (Ross) of Indio, CA, Barbara Karow (Gerald) of Hernando, FL, Patricia Diercks (Steve) of Coloma, WI, Michael (Joan) of St Paul, Kevin (April Egan) of Edina, Brian (Tracy) of Hawthorn Woods, IL and David (Ellen) of Minneapolis.Also surviving are 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; numerousnieces and nephews; and special friend, Elsie Mitchell. Preceding Grant to heaven are his parents, Patrick and Christina; brother, Dr. Joseph Lawless and his wife Louise; and sister,Marion and her husband Ignatius Gerszewski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 5071 Eden Avenue, Edina on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Private interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association.
