Mrs. Newell,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We are mourning the loss of Harlan W. Newell, honorary citizen of the town of Aschersleben, Germany.
He saved the town from the destruction by allied bombs in April 1945.
We will always honor his memory.

Dear Ria,
Bill shared with me the story of how he met you during the the war and why he went back to rescue you from the town at great risk to all. It is still one of the most moving stories I have ever herad. i always told him to write a mamlir--and hope he did.
