James BERNHARD Obituary

May 5, 1940 - October 17, 2018 Omission to Obituary Jim's original obituary included much information and many relatives that survived him. However, in the fog of grief, sleep deprivation and illness, two of Jim's closest confidants were missed. He loved his two sisters, Pat Goodwill (Don) in White Bear, MN and Gerilou Jakubowski (Stan) in Brooksville, FL to the moon and back. They had always been the closest of siblings and friends. They were many times the first ones he had to call with news of a special situation: good or bad. They always had each others' backs and best interests at heart. They, and their children, Jim's nieces and nephews, will also feel the loss of super cool, uncle Jim. All of us shared many fun times together over the years. I can only apologize from the depths of my heart for the omission and pray that this somehow minimizes the additional hurt they have experienced. Please forgive me...I love you... Pat

I still can't believe you both are gone, and yet it seems like forever. I can't tell you how many times I grab for my phone to talk sports...or just talk. I've always heard the stories of how you soak the sheriff in the 4th of July parade. Now I've actually seen you in action. Pictures are great. I love when they come up on Facebook of you two. It is so great to see your faces and the things you two were up too.

You were such young parents, I never even thought this would happen...and I never dreamed it would be this hard. I always felt so safe knowing you were there. Now the whole world is scary. But it's going to be ok. Some time. Mourning is a tough, long and painful process. I know you're with me, both of you, helping me along. The strength will come back and hopefully the migraines will get lost! I miss your faces and hugs and I love you's so much. I love you more! Keep enjoying the pain free life and I hope it's even greater than you expected! Don't forget to save me a spot. I hope I see you at the pearly gates! Give Mom a hug for me too. Please send me strength. I'm praying for strength too. I love you so very very much!! xoxoxo

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Jim Bernhard. I remember the three of you when we were young: Jim, Pat, and Gerry Lou, and your parents. We played together and your family was kind to us, like one time when electricity was off for several days and you helped us by storing food in a gas-powered refrigerator. My brother Tom and I lived a few houses away on the corner of Thomas and Syndicate.

God's blessings to you and your family.

Pat, So sorry to hear about ,Jim. I have known Jim for a long time. Jim and ny Tom, worked together, hunted, shared a few drinks and helped each other, they were good friends. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy and hope your memories will get you through your loss. It is a difficult time, I know, as my Tom has been gone 6 years. I will be thinking of you, God Bless.........Connie McDonnell, Austin
