My condolences to the family. I worked with Jerry from 1978 - 83 in Grand Rapids at the University Consortium Center. He was a kind, visionary leader, loved and respected by all. Merry Malfroid and Leonard ? worked with UM, Cheryl Scheerhorn worked with MSU, Gladys Sims and I worked with WMU with Dick Burke and Geoff Smith, and MariJo Dys and Doug Vance and Jim Schultz worked with GVSU. Those were wonderful times. We all stayed in higher ed. Merry died a few years ago, Gladys is still working.

What a blessing it was to walk in the light that shone through Jerry's life. Though our time together was relatively brief, the memories of being in the company of a child of the universe who shared his joy in the wonders of creation with everyone he met will last a lifetime.
Our hearts go out to Linda and the rest of his family who have to deal with the tear in the fabric of their lives that can never truly be repaired. We will miss him terribly, but we are all better human beings for having known him and shared the gifts that he so willingly gave to us all.
Peace and love always.

Hello:
I met Jerry last August at the Capella graduation. I was beginning a new journey in my life. I did not know that I was called to be a medium and a spiritual healer but Jerry saw something in me that was suffering and he embraced me and made me feel like everything was going to be alright. We spoke about religion and God for a long time and he comforted me and made me think profoundly about my place and my role in this world. Little did I know how many changes would be taking place in my life. Jerry and I conversed via email and I thought about him all of the time. He was a person that lit up a room and he made me feel very special. I think of him each day as I begin my work with others. He is remembered in my prayers and in my meditations. Thank you, Jerry for making me feel like I can do anything. Your physical presence is missed. With much love and gratitude, Candace Adams.

I had the pleasure of having Dr. Halverson as my professor twice in my masters program, just recently last quarter. We instantly connected as it was evident that we both loved the Lord and both signed our emails with "Blessings." In addition he inspired and empowered me. He saw so much potential in me and encouraged me to continue my education to the Doctorate level. He thought that I could "change the world." His feedback, support, mentorship, and kindness was very much appreciated. I was so sad to hear of his sudden passing as I had wished to see him at commencement this coming August. He will continue to be my inspiration academically. My condolence, prayers, and love to the family. He lived well, may he now rest well with our Lord and savior! Blessings, Karen Koukou-Twaglee

Jerry was such a blessing to me in my doctoral pursuits. Not only that, his friendship was highly valued. Jerry was a positive soul and an encouragement academically and professionally. I'm so glad he was able to do my hooding back in 2014 - what a privilege. Blessings and peace to the family as you have lost a very good man.

Linda, my condolences to you and your family for your loss. I had the opportunity to talk to Jerry at the "surprise birthday" party earlier this year. Although it was short conversation, I'm glad that we had time to talk.
Jerry, RIP.
