John Michael SCRIVENER

Age 93 of Shoreview Passed away on September 30, 2021 after courageous battle with cancer. Preceded in death by parents Harry and Lucille; brothers Richard and Robert. Survived by children John (Leslie), Lynn, Matthew and longtime partner Joe Burzynski. John was lifelong resident of St. Paul, graduate of Monroe H.S., Mpls School of Art, Army vet and retiree of Hamm's Brewery. He enjoyed the proximity of Irvine Park to downtown St. Paul in his early years and took full advantage of the music, arts and shops. Being a free spirit he appreciated lively people, adventure and above all his passion for classic cars. In the last couple of years, the isolation caused by Covid proved far more difficult to John than his failing health. John was proud of the contrarian aspects of his Italian/English heritage and instilled this love of culture into his family and friends. All Holidays were celebrated with vigor and style. He was kind, compassionate and loved life and the mischievous twinkle in his eyes and salty comebacks will be very much missed by all who knew him. Thank you to the nurses and staff at United Hospital for the careful care and kindness. Memorials preferred to St. Paul Gospel Mission. A service and celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 8th at Bradshaw (4600 Greenhaven Dr.). Private family interment to follow.
