Age 86, of Bloomington, MN Died on September 25, 2022 He passed away peacefully surrounded by immediate family and friends. John's final days were spent reminiscing and celebrating his life in his treasured hometown of Milwaukee, WI. John was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and Bronislaus. He is survived by his loving family including wife Gretchen, son Jon, daughter Lisa and children Shelly (Tony), Shawn (Marzena) and Timothy (Lisa). John was a devoted grandfather to his many grandchildren. He is also survived by his twin sister Joann (Bob) Schneider, nieces and former daughter-in-law, Karissa. John was a graduate of Messmer Catholic High School and Marquette University in Milwaukee where he earned a degree in Engineering. Following honorable service in the US Army John had a dynamic and storied career. He was a jazz musician, owned successful music stores and became a commercial airline pilot. The pinnacle of John's successful career was being a founder and later CEO of Sun Country Airlines. Whatever John did in his life was combined with a strong work ethic, intelligence, and a kind, compassionate spirit. He cherished his roles as husband, father, grandfather, friend, colleague and mentor. John loved traveling, telling stories and enjoying fantastic meals. He was a philanthropist and a long-time, generous supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Please join us to raise a glass in cheers to John's life, legacy and to share your best stories. A Celebration of Life event will be held on Tues., October 25, 2022 from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Pool & Yacht Club in Lilydale, MN. In lieu of memorials the family asks that donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Minnesota.
