Joseph LAWDER Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph "Joey" William Lawder, age 26. God entrusted Joey to us with a gentle spirit, inquisitive mind, great passion and many talents. Once the love for something grew in his heart, no interest or idea could be contained. He would hike until the sun would set and he would be fishing while the world was still asleep. Joey befriended all, including the lowliest creatures of the earth, eagerly sharing his discoveries, and enriching our family life with information and silliness. As the oldest son, Joey originated many of the family interests in the outdoors, scouts, sports, running, fishing, music, military and family competition and debate. He was an avid Minnesota sports fan, giving many cheers and tears for the Vikings over the years. Striking his own path of realization, Joey was not concerned with material things or formal learning, yet his quest for knowledge and search for answers was fueled by his own study and exploring creation for meaning. He studied the wonders of the land and geography melding that into employment at Demarc Land Surveying where he could create and study maps. Joey's dreams were large, and his journey pushed the limits to understand his life, know and now find all his answers. Having been enriched by his gifts, we will deliver Joey back to his maker where he is welcomed to eternal peace by his Grandmother Dolores Traxler. He is survived by his parents Joseph and Teresa Lawder, siblings Allison, Jack, Tim and Ted Lawder; Grandfather Donald Traxler, Grandparents Mike and Joan Lawder; 29 aunts and uncles, and 59 cousins. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 4-7pm at O'Halloran & Murphy Funeral Home, 575 Snelling Avenue S., St Paul. On Friday, June 9, 2023, a visitation will be held at 9:30am and a funeral Mass will follow at 10:30am at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1938 Stanford Ave., St. Paul, MN.
