Kaye YOUNG Obituary

Kaye passed away on August 17, 2023. She was born to Ira and Frances in 1934. Although she lived in a variety of Missouri towns, she spent most of her early life in St. Louis surrounded by a large extended family. From an early age she knew how to navigate the city and where the best apricot kolaches were (Kirkwood Bakery). At 17 she fell in love at first sight with a handsome Marine recruiter at Second Baptist Church, and she married Charles 9 months later. She accepted the lean years of college and graduate school with grace, and encouraged Charles to complete his doctorate. They were blessed with 70 years of marriage and three children Mike (Beth), Sharon (Kurt), and Janet. While Charles fulfilled his numerous academic duties, Kaye looked after the family and household. Kaye was cheerful and kind. In addition to caring for her family, she wrote countless letters, participated in church charities, and specialized in remembering the names of all those whom she met and all manner of details about their families. Each person she met was special to her. She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren Elyria, Margaret, and Hal and traveling with Charles throughout the United States and to Europe and Morocco. In her final years, she suffered many illnesses but bore them patiently. She has gone to a better place; she will be deeply missed and not forgotten. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 7th at 2 p.m. at Amira Roseville, 2680 Lexington Ave N. in Roseville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Feed My Starving Children are appreciated. 651-631-2727

Today I received Sharon´s letter sharing that my dear friend, Kaye has went to her heavenly home. I was one of the very lucky people to have been blessed by Kaye´s kindness and many encouraging notes. Kaye was a Christ filled special woman. My heartfelt sympathies to the family.
