Hi Ruby and Sue
I hope you still remember me from the airport. Its only been about three decades or so. I do remember talking to Ruby about 30 years ago. I always wondered what happened to you guys. If you's like to catch up email me at [email protected]. Again sorry to hear about your loss, hopefully things are getting better. I've lost both of my parents in the last 5 years and I know how tough it can be.

Aunt Ruby and girls,
I'm so very sorry for your loss. When I think of Uncle Ken, I remember he worked Excellsior. My school went there for the class trip. I didn't have enough money to ride on a ride and Uncle Ken gave me a half dollar so I could go with my friends. I told him I'd pay him back. The next time I saw him I tried to pay it back and he told me to keep it. I'll always remember that.

Dear Aunt Ruby,
i always considered Uncle Ken as my Guardian Angel as he watched over me ever since I was born. To say I will miss him just doesn't seem adequate because he meant so much to me. I only hope he knows how important he was so so many of us and how much he was loved. He did leave his mark here not only with family and friends, but with many police officers that had the honor to work with him. I thank you and him for all the memories that we have made together.

Love,
Kathy

Ruby
There are no words that can even begin to express your loss or even begin to explain what a GIANT of a man that Kenny was, and still is. I know that made a great impact upon my family, and he also touch a part of my soul as a person, I will sit down from time to time and think about Kenny - and I will begin to smile inside.

Kenny Tigwell (Mr Tidwell Sir to some) was already a legend on the Minneapolis police department in 1972 when I hit the street fresh out of rookie school. A giant of a man who worked the morals squad. His style, disguises were the topic of conversation with the cops on the street....One of a kind. He continued to have the respect of the working cops until his retirement....Any person who knew Kenny Tidgwell will miss Kenny Tidgwell...

I will apologize to some for the extended post I will be writing, but the words need to be said and publicly. I never made the time to meet this man, but have had opportunities too. Whether it be from intimidation of him, or the thought he would live forever. I'm gravely saddened I never took the chance. I have heard many stories about him, and they were heard from a 'chip off the ol' block'. Those of you who know who I'm referring too, also know that there is nothing small about him. The saying goes "God broke the mold after he made you." I beg to differ. There is currently a Minneapolis Police Officer working, and I personally think, The mold was broken after him. I truly believe that there is a Tidgwell upstairs, now looking down on a Tidgwell here, and is proud of the man he has become, and the things he does. You are not just a "chip", but a replica of a great man. You carry his name, and you wear his badge. This legend of a man lives, in a man capable of keeping the tradition alive. My prayers go out to those finding themselves in pain from loss. It's not often in life you get the chance to be honored to have people like this close to you. I am honored because I know a part of him. God Bless.

Ruby, our thoughts and prayers are with you guys, Kenny has been lucky to have you at his side for 55 years!

It is an honor to carry on the MPD tradition both with Kenny's name and badge number #613. I have had old north siders read my name plate and then ask me how I was related to Kenny.... there was at least one occassion where the person made a hasty retreat... impossible to even come close to filling those shoes... I will miss you Uncle Kenny!
