Margaret Barthelemy Obituary

Age 93 Passed on 5/18/11 in Mpls. Embarked on a family adventure with Richard Barthelemy 1945-1988. Their creativity inspired & changed lives wherever they were. They lived and folk-danced throughout MN, TX, Boston and the Twin Cities before an active 'retirement' in Mexico. Margaret organized local women in backstrap weaving traditions. Survived by 4 daughters: Mary, Jane, Ann, Heidi; 2 granddaughters: Gwen, Melissa; great-granddaughter: Chloe; many nieces, nephews & dear friends. Preceded by parents, brother & Richard, husband of 43 years. The family wishes to express its deep gratitude to the caring staff at Jones-Harrison Residence. They were inspired by Margaret's bright smile and zest for life as she coped with Alzheimers the past ten years. Memorial celebration, contact: [email protected]. Dear Family and Friends of Margaret and Dick. My parents, Ed and Lois Flanigan, were great friends during the Alexandria years. I got to know them better after they moved to St. Paul and later as they explored living in Mexico (which suited them well, I believe). My best recollections are of a kind, a bit eccentric but totally enthusiastic family. Always celebrate that spirit.

I got to know Margaret at Jones-Harrison, where she often sat at the same table as my mother. She was a delightful person, and her "zest for life" and sense of humor were clearly evident even as Alzheimers took its toll. My thoughts are with the family.
