On September 13th, 1933, Cleophas was born to J.C. Williams and Elgladys Mustiful. He was the second child of the 7 children born to this union.
He was reared in a Christian home, where he attended and accepted Christ at the Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Oxford, Louisiana. He confessed his calling to the ministry at Greater First Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor W.E. Gibbs. He joined Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, for a brief time, under the leadership of Pastor Edwin A. Davis. Shortly thereafter, he joined Yale Street Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor T. Leon Preston II. He preached his final sermon, ?What it means to be Lost? on July 27, 2014, at the Yale Street Baptist Church Morning Manna service.
He met Fannie Peyton (his soulmate) in 1954. They were married on December 14, 1957 (57 years). To this union, they raised 8 of 9 children: Curtis (Clema), Margaret (deceased), Ola, Larry (Jackie), James (Rita), Brenda (Ray), Robert (Pam), Michael (Unesha) and Douglas.
His parents and two siblings (Claudia and Roy-Lee) preceded him in death.
To mourn his passing he leaves behind 4 siblings; J.C. Williams (Jennie), Foster (Betty) Leversia (Nora), Betty and also 4 aunts. His memory lives on through his 27 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 4 great, great-grandchildren. Dear Family we are one in the loss that you are experiencing at this time. Uncle Cleophas was a one of a kind creation of our Almighty God and I(Brenda L. Williams Abdul) along with my father ( Leversia Williams), mother ( Leonora Williams), brother ( Roderick Williams) and my children ( Shawnay, Laissha and Sierrah Abdul) will always keep the life and love of Uncle alive in our hearts and memories. Uncle Cleophas is just resting right now along with our other family members that have preceeded him and one day with God's blessing we will again see each other in that glorious Holy city where there will be no more hunger, sorrows, or crying for all the former things of this life will have past away! I along with the rest of the family love you all and never have been remissed in including you in our prayers! May the Lord God keep us all strong in this time of grief and sadness. I also want to express deep gratitude to all the family and friends of Uncle Cleophas that your messages of love is truly a testimony on Our Almighty God's neverending compassion and goodness! Thank you all for loving one of God's own!
