I took a few lessons from Michael and spread his praises everywhere. He made golf FUN! Which, of course, as he seemed to understand - translated to a lot more than just golf. So sorry to his family and friends.

Michael was a fantastic golf teacher. Me and my neighbor took lessons from him last spring. He was such a charismatic / calm / instructor. He will be greatly missed. God Bless him.

He was the best golf teacher! He had good advice and made it fun. "Quit trying to hit the ball!" I will miss the Monday night golf lessons with him and all the ladies. He is irreplaceable. My condolences to the family.

We met Michael by chance about a week before his passing. We had been up for training and having supper at the Famous Dave´s. We seen this friendly man sitting alone and invited him over. We enjoyed great conversation with him. Small world, as he knew people from our hometown (2.5 hours away). Blessed be his memory, prayers to his loved ones.

Such a wonderful man. Played a handful of rounds with Michael and his demeanor and easy laugh always made for an enjoyable day. It's no wonder he was so popular with students.

Sara and family -- you are in my prayers this morning as I read this very sad news about Michael. He was my golf coach for the last several years at Brookview--took many lessons from him, but I've never laughed so hard and enjoyed a golf lesson so much as with your Michael! We shared golf stories, book titles to read and life observations every lesson. Through his expert guidance, I did manage to become a better golfer (helped my husband, too!). But really we became good friends. He was a wonderful spirit -- and I will miss him!

Sarah, So sorry to hear about Michael. My life (and golf game) is richer for knowing Michael for the last few years. It was amazing how he could weave in a few life lessons along with a wonderful golf lesson. He will be so missed. It was wonderful to meet you as well and have him share you with us. Hugs and prayers to you and your family.

Sara and family,
Michael was the best roommate I ever had. His positive 'can do' attitude was just what I needed in my last year of a lengthy college career at UMD. We spent a lot of time in front of a camp fire at our rental home on Lake Superior solving the world's (and my) problems. We played tennis and studied together. At one point, he had us studying in small rafts on Lake Superior. He was a fantastic role model for me. I am forever grateful for having known him during those years.
God Bless

In true Michael fashion, his self-penned obit made me laugh. Our family was blessed to have known Michael, and also recently, his lovely wife. There is nothing more precious than time and joy and we're thankful for the amounts of both Michael shared with us. Our hearts are with you and your family, Sara.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Michael in person once, but in that instant it was easy to see why so many people love him. Generous and kind, Michael gave and gave and gave, and the world is a better place for him having gifted us with his presence.

Sara, I was saddened to hear of Michael´s death through the Star Tribune. It has been a long time since we´ve been in the same space (at St. Luke) but I hope to reach out to you in the near future. With love to you during these difficult days, Jamie Manning

My friend for over 50 years on and off the golf course. We always laughed about all the characters we met and knew at Gross Golf Course. Michael always pushed me to do the right thing. Thank you my friend. I will truly miss our conversations. Thoughts and prayers are with Michael´s entire family.
