I was shocked to just find out today about Nancy's untimely passing. I work at UnitedHealth Group and reported to Nancy for a short time back in '07. We both knew that the reporting relationship would be short-lived, as I was moving to another role in another part of the company, but Nancy still took the time to educate me on her world of IT Architecture! I will never forget walking into her office and seeing all of the hilarious trinkets and messages on her chalk-board! She immediately injected fun into our conversation even though I'm sure she was stressed to the max with all of the responsibilities upon her! In fact, I still have my "Wooly Willy Magnet" she gave me on day one and to this day, it's a hit with everyone that comes by my desk. Please know that Nancy touched the lives of everyone she met. I'm so sorry for your loss and pray that God gives you comfort.

I am so sorry for your family to have to go through yet another sad time. We all expect that our older parents will pass before we do, but it is totally unnatural to have any one of our children die and in such a harsh way. My heart goes out to all in Nancy's family especially to Carol and Jeff. May the God of All Comfort give you strength and peace.

I remember the days when Nancy worked at Laser. She was impressive on the volleyball court, her technical skills were even more impressive, and she was fun to be around. I can't believe she's gone. Let's all raise a glass to her!

Nancy was a former "regular" of mine at a restaurant on the North Shore. She was always full of smiles and good stories. As a bartender, I remembered her drink first, but very quickly got to know her name! It was always going to be a good night at work when we saw her walk through the door! My thoughts and best wishes to her family.

During the time that Nancy's grandparents, Harold and Phyllis, lived next door to us in Stillwater, we got to know Nancy and her twin sisters. It was always fun to hear the laughter coming from their backyard whenever the girls spent time at grandpa and grandma's house. We are saddened by your loss. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

Love,
Tim and Gayla Trooien

I got to know Nancy in one of my first classes at St. Thomas. She was the one sitting in the back with the quick wit, commenting on every topic with her intelligent insights. Right away I knew I wanted to meet her and it was easy since she was a friend to everyone. We quickly paired up on all of our group projects. She always completed her half of the homework and was right there to help me through the difficult parts when I got stuck. I could not have made it through the program without her encouragement and support. My favorite memory of Nancy is sitting around a campfire talking about books during our Great Books Seminar, everything from Virginia Woolf to Pope John Paul. I’m proud to have known her and feel fortunate to have been a part of her life.
