Nicholas J. Vitelli

West St. Paul Jan. 27, 1913 - Dec. 28, 2011 Died peacefully after suffering a stroke on Christmas Eve. Survived by daughters, Pearl (David) Hallett and Carrie (Gary) Kemp; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Ann Kjelland, Pierine Moy, Rosemary (Bob) Clausen; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pearl (nee Steenberg), parents, Carmen and Vincenzo; brothers, John, Tony, Victor, James, and sister, Virginia. Born in Italy, Nick was brought to the United States when his father was hired to work on the J. J. Hill Railroad. After retiring from Armour and Company in 1973, Nick and Pearl spent winters in Ormond Beach, FL. They traveled extensively and loved spending time with their large extended family. Pearl died in 2007 after more than 72 years of marriage. Nick worked hard, laughed often and loved us all deeply. His love for his church brought him very close to God. Our lives have been blessed by his nearly 99 years on this earth. Celebration of his life Monday, Jan. 2nd. Mass 10 AM at Church of the Assumption, 51 West 7th Street, St. Paul.
