running bib honoring 4 fallen heroes KIA

JR Corritore

May 25, 2015

I had the distinct honor of running with Major Paul Carrons's name on my running bib this past Saturday. The run was the Christopher Scherer Memorial "I Did the Grid" and run by Chris's parents to honor him and all those lost heroes. Please know Major Carron was in my thoughts as I ran and will never be forgotten-a grateful American/Jennyrose Corritore, Long Island NY.

My daughter,Lisa, was googling for my son's name, Paul Eugene Carron, and found this article about the family's loss of Major Paul D. Carron. My husband's name is Leo E. Carron. I don't know if we are related or not, but I wanted to let you know that we are praying for your family as you face this tragic loss of your husband and father. I can see that Paul was loved and respected by so many people.
May God bless you and your family and may He comfort you in this time of loss.

I am so sorry to hear of your family's loss. I know there are no words to say at this time except to let you know the thoughts of many are with you in this time of sorrow. May our Father give you comfort and peace in the years to come.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. I know your family offered the same to me when I lost my brother, Pat Hurley, in the Persian Gulf. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. Thank you Major Carron for protecting our freedom. Although we never met, your memory will live in me and the lives of all you protected. With each flag waving in the breeze and Star Spangled Banner played, a part of you will live within. My thoughts are with the Carron family.

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. I truly feel your loss and pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Paul will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I met Paul while with the 82nd ABN back in 2000 when he was the Recon Platoon Leader for 2-325th AIR. I was fresh out of RGR School and assigned the role of Fire Support Officer for C/2-325 AIR when I was introduced to Paul by the platoon leaders in the rifle company...a couple of whom were West Point classmates of his. Even before I met him they told me that he was something special, and they were right. When I heard about his passing all I could think of was that big smile on his face, and how he welcomed me into the circle of junior officers of which he was such a respected member. Please accept my most sincere condolences for your loss...our loss.
God Bless you.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms Maj. Paul Carron. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Paul. And to Paul it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Paul, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,335 military Legionnaire Veterans of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Paul’s family and loved ones.

The price Maj Paul Carron and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, Will Not Be Forgotten. Please know how Deeply Sorry I am to learn of the loss of this Brave Young Soldier.

There will Never Be Enough Ways to Humbly Thank our Young Heroes for their Sacrifices, my brother among them, killed in action in Vietnam in 1967.

"Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." ~ John 15:13 ~

May you find Peace in knowing the love and memories you have, will remain in your heart forever and that this Grateful Country Will Not Forget Paul's Sacrifice.

To the Abernethy & Carron Families,
You are in my thoughts. I will never forget the canoe Paul built in his living room, the conversation and laughter shared amongst peers at Ft. Benning, and most of all, Paul's unwavering loyalty to his friends and family, his soldiers and his country. My deepest sympathy to you.

The Carron Family,

I like so many, was fortunate to know Maj. Carron first by reputation as a member of the Regiment, then serving together at 5th RTB. He was a gifted officer and a great leader. He always put soldiers first. This nation as lost one of its best.

Susan,

Please know that I am deeply sorry for your loss. Although any attempt I might make with words can not express the deepness of my sympathies for you and your family. So I would like to briefly address what Paul meant to me in hopes that it is meaningful to you and one day your children. Paul was truly a mentor to me, both at 5th RTB, when he was a Company Commander and I was a Junior Captain. And then again a couple of years later in Iraq at FOB Kalsu when he was an Aide and I was a Company Commander . At the time Caroline the kids and I were also stationed out of Germany. Paul provided me with a level of insight concerning difficult decisions that were necessary for my career, my Company, and my family. We talked about God, about our families, and about our responsibilities as Leaders. A great Man, a tremendous Soldier, and a Treasure to all that knew him well. May God bless you with strength, comfort, and and watch over you and your Children. I will pray for you!

God's Blessings,

Tim Palmer
