Pauline Magdsick Obituary

Magdsick, Pauline - Elizabeth 'Betty' (nee Frevert) Age 80 Formerly of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully in the presence of her daughter, Dr. Linda Magdsick, her son, Dr. John Magdsick and his wife, Michelle, in St. Paul, on June 22, 2003. Survived also by Linda's daughter, Lisa; and John's sons, Karl and Greg; other relatives and friends, including MyRene Magdsick and Polly Girton. Preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Dr. Carl C. 'Pete' Magdsick. She grew up in Charles City, IA, graduated from the U of MN and taught home economics before marrying Dr. Carl C. Magdsick in 1947. Living in Iowa until 1953, the family then moved to Sioux Falls, SD. Pete died in 1960. Thereafter, Pauline taught home economics for 14 years at Patrick Henry Jr. High, Sioux Falls. A leader in home economics curriculum development in SD, she created and implemented an individualized sewing curriculum. Active in Delta Kappa Gamma, P.E.O. and serving on the board of the Parkinson Assn of SD, Pauline enjoyed traveling abroad, knitting and sewing. Since 1976, she loved her summer home on Green Lake, MN, where friends and family were always welcome. Pauline had Parkinson's Disease and took her declining health with courage and grace, as she had done with her husband's sudden death in 1960. Pauline was devoted to her family and friends, moving to the Twin Cities 2 years ago to be near her children as her health declined. The last years, her primary reason for living was seeing her grandchildren grow up. She celebrated college graduations of both her grandsons this year, and the 20th birthday of Lisa, her youngest grandchild earlier this month. Visitation Friday, June 27, 4-7PM; followed by funeral service 7PM at MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 6210 NE Highway 65, Fridley, MN.
