Richard Molitor Obituary

Molitor, Richard J., - Beloved Husband, Dad & Grandpa 1928 - 2002 Dick Molitor, died peacefully on Sunday morning, November 10 surrounded by his wife of 20 years, Ethel and his children. Dick is preceded in death by his brother, David Molitor and by his first wife, Kathleen. Their marriage yielded 8 children; 25 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Ethel's son, Sean O'Connell (Cardina, CA) and daughter, Kelli O'Connell (Raleigh, NC) are also members of this combined family. The Molitor family began in 1950 with the birth of Mary Alice (Hal Langevin) continuing with Carol (Jim Rolland), Vicky (Autrey), Angie (Ron Whitcomb); sons, Paul (Linda) and David (Wendy) then Judy (Rugsy Gergen) and Barbie (Dan Jones). Dick is also survived by his brothers, Ted (Irene) Molitor of Roseville and Lee (Vieno) Molitor of Ventura, CA. Dick was born in a family home in Norwood, MN on January 26, 1928. His college education at the University of St Thomas brought him to St Paul in 1944. St Paul would remain his primary home for the rest of his life. Dick worked at Great Northern (turned Burlington Northern) for 35 years. Dick and Ethel wintered in Arizona for most of their happy retirement. We will always remember you for your love of your family, your affinity for numbers, your clever wit, your joyous whistling and your disdain for high dew points and of course your exemplary and devoted marriage to Ethel, our dear Ethel. Special thanks to the great people doing God's work at both St Joseph's Hospital Radiology (wink to Elizabeth) and HealthEast Hospice. We are grateful to Officer Tanner Spiser who was of significant importance in our time of need. 'Geez' we're going to miss you! Funeral leaving WILLWERSCHEID & PETERS MORTUARY, 1167 Grand Av., St Paul, 10:50 AM, Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM at the CHURCH OF ST LUKE, Summit at Lexington, St Paul. Private interment. Visitation 4-8 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home. 651-228-1006.

Have been to Cretin-Derham, U of Minnesota, saw a few of Paul's 3,000 hits, his Mother's Day homers and will go to Cooperstown. Would say that the acorn, Paul, did not fall far from the tree, Dick. There is a lot of Dick in Paul.

The whole family personifies Minnesota Nice.

Deepest sympathies to each and every one.

Paul and family,

It is one year to the day when my father, also a St. Paul resident, passed away suddenly and he would have been 74 also.

They say that time heals all wounds, but not entirely when it comes to death.

If your dad was as much as a role model as mine was growing up, you both have to be very proud of the results. I know that you will never forget your dad, as I will never forget mine. Be strong, but above all, be human.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

To Paul and all the Molitors,

I will never forget your father sitting "quietly" at the Attucks-Brooks games back in the 70's, often with my father--usually a row or two behind your mother, my mother and Arline Winfield. The men always sat silently as the women's cheers and opinions of the umpiring could be heard clear across Dunning Field. Well, they're all together now, having left us with many memories and moments of magic.

Remember the good times...and give "Independence Day" another listen.

Peace and Prayers--Hondo

Your dad will never be forgotten by the Portland Ave. neighbors. I can picture him walking home from the Grand Ave. bus. He was always so nice to the Caron kids. We will miss him dearly! We are thinking of all of you during this difficult time. Hugs to all of you.
