Richard NISLEIT Obituary

Age 54, of Woodbury, MN Died peacefully from cancer on October 4, 2015. Rick was born on August 12, 1961 in Port Washington, WI. He graduated from Cedarburg (WI) High School in 1979 and from Southwest State University (Marshall, MN) in 1984. At Southwest State, Rick met his wife Charlotte - like Rick, a Mustang basketball player - and they were married May 5, 1984. Rick worked 30 years in the refractory industry, including over 16 years at his current employer, Gagnon Inc. in St. Paul, where he regarded co-workers and customers as friends. He previously worked for AP Green and Premier Refractories. Rick's legacy will be his loyal devotion to his Christian faith, his family, his work, and his friends. A lifelong athlete and sports fan himself, he rarely missed cheering his three daughters on in their successful sports and other life achievements. He was a man of faith, a man who provided for and encouraged his family in all things, a good friend to many, and one who faced his life's health challenges with courage. He called himself blessed by God. Rick is loved and survived by his best friend and wife of 31 years, Charlotte Nisleit; daughters, Amanda Jane (Dave) Jensen, Sarah Ann (Zach) Peterson, and Carly Rose Nisleit; grandchildren, Noah Richard Jensen, Lydia Patricia Jensen, and Carlton Timothy Peterson; brothers, Steve (Linda) Nisleit and Robert Nisleit; sisters, Linda (Ron) Rappold, Barb (Dan) Wollner, Donna (Bob) Edquist, and Anne Shipley; in-laws Bobbie Nelson, Jeff Spanel, Doug Nelson & Alison Jones, Jeff Nelson, Stephanie & Steve Schmit, and Greg & Kathy Nelson; many loved nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. Rick is preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Carlton & Rosemary Nisleit and Gordon & Jane Nelson; infant sister, Lana Lee Nisleit; and sister-in-law, Claudia Nelson. Memorial Service Monday, October 12th 11am at Crossroads Church, Woodbury Campus, 5900 Woodbury Dr. Woodbury, MN 55129. Visitation 9-11am. A lunch reception at Crossroads follows the service. Private Interment. Rick will be laid to rest, at his request, in his beloved home state of Wisconsin, forever a Packers fan. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the family, or donor choice. Arrangements, 651-702-0301

Charlotte and Family. I just learned of Rick's passing and want you to know how sorry I am for your loss. Rick was a teammate and friend back in our SSU days. My memories are of a kind and caring person. Wishing you all the best Charlotte.

I meet Rick for the first time this winter during our maintenance outage at Davenport Iowa.

He was a true professional and very nice guy to work with. Very saddened and shocked to hear of his passing.

My prayers are for Rick and his family.

Dear Charlotte and family,

Rick was a great person and he will be deeply missed. We have not seen Rick and the girls for a couple years but we always appreciated him making time to visit my parents when he was in the Cedarburg area.

Sincerely,
Bruce and Nancy Prom

Char
Joanne told me about Rick. My heart just is so very sad for you and your family. I can tell from your Caring Bridge posts that you are a strong Christian. It is that belief and the love of your family that will carry you through this. I too believe that God was waiting for Rick with open arms and has welcomed him to a pain free life. My prayers are with you.

The St. Louis Family

We enjoyed having known Rick all these years. You are all such a wonderful family. We have been very inspired to witness your journey of faith, not only with Rick, but with all the ups and downs that comes with life through the years. We are sad he is no longer with us, but relieved he is no longer in pain.Your faith as a family is so inspirational to us. You are such a strong family. They say when you find a penny that somebody in heaven is saying hello. When you find pennies in the future think of Rick. The Dad, the husband, the friend, the golfer, the Packers fan & and smile because I'm sure he want you to.
