Bob was a good friend in High School. And after I returned after a stint in the Peace Corps in Malaysia with my wife Tica he and his family were very kind. After that we unfortunately lost touch but I have never forgotten him. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

Rachel and the rest of the Dahms crew, I first started working with Dahms over at Hudson. I often wondered where this guy came from? I didn't know when to believe him or not. All I knew is when I saw him on the schedule and I was his only audience, it was going to be a fun shift full of laughs. It was quite obvious where you got it it from Rachel. Great doctor. Great man. My condolences!

Rachel and family.
I'm so sorry to hear about the death of your father. He was always so great to work with! He was an excellent clinician, knowledgeable, treated all equally, funny and always ready to teach. It was well known that if "Dahms" was on it would be a good shift! I can still see his coat tails flying and hear the schuffe of his shoes!

December 29, 2014

Dr Dahms was the greatest doctor. Besides being a very good dr he was a great man to work with. He always respected the nurses and when the ER got really busy he never got upset and yelled at the nurses or rest of the staff. He was one of the most intelligent Drs we had in the ER and he was a good teacher.

I was fortunate enough to work with Dr Dahms in the ER. His caring heart and funny wit will not be forgotten. I hope his family and friends find comfort in the days ahead. And may he find peace watching his loved ones from above.

Great doctor. I remember working with him at Hudson. I asked him one time, while discharging a patient, "don't you want to wait for the lab results?" And he said "nope." When I asked why he ordered them he replied "it's expected, I know what the results will be!" And that's the way he rolled. You were a jem.

As a child he was the (Doctor-WOW) who lived down the street, who would of know that 20 some years later I would be in a position working with him in the ER and being able to learn in a setting that was as comfortable and light as I can ever remember. He is remembered fondly by any one who had the pleasure of sharing any part of his life with him. Sending strength to you Rachel and the rest of your crew. RIP Doc

It's been fourteen years since I worked nights in the ER at Ramsey with Dr. Dahms. But it was like yesterday. What a talented physician he was. I loved his sense of humor and his stories. I especially smile when I think of every time flowers etc were sent to the ER they would always be from whoever and BOB DAHMS! Sunday God must have needed another angel, you will be missed by all who knew you. God Bless to Bob's family.

Dear Carol and Rachel,
I am sorry to hear about Bob. I did not know him well but I knew that he was one of the stalwarts and pioneers of Emergency Medicine at St. Paul Ramsey, long before the modern era. He obviously inspired many. I hope you can celebrate all of the good things he represented.

Dr. Dahms, where does one start? So many memories...I loved when Dr. Cicero made him swear he would behave at the Christmas parties and he would tell Cicero he was going to apologize now, before the party. It was such a pleasure to work with him in the ER, so intelligent, common sense and the greatest sense of humor. My prayers are with you Rachel and your sister and the rest of the family, he will be missed!!

December 24, 2014

I was so honored to have had the privilege of working with Dr. Dahms in the emergency room back in the 90s. He was the best and taught me so much. I will always be indebted to him. My sincere condolences. Linda Evans

Bob was a great mentor and friend, especially in the '70s when all of us youngsters were trying to figure out how we were going to practice emergency medicine. He was the smartest ER doc that I ever knew and taught us all a lot. He loved a good party and was always the life of one. He will be sorely missed. They certainly broke the mold after Dahms was made. We drank a toast with a Rusty Nail in Bob's honor when we heard of his passing. Farewell, Bob, we hardly knew ye. Joan's and my thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time. --Dan and Joan

My sympathies to the Dahm's family. Bob was one of the great ones. When he called me to the ER to see a patient, it was never frivolous and he already had the diagnosis. The rest of the stories can not be shared on this site. Another of the good guys gone.

So many awesome memories of Dahms. One of those people you just have to smile about when you think of him. Likely because he always had a big grin, a joke, and maybe an inappropriate story to tell. And, one of the best t-shirts collections. So sorry to hear of his passing, he has definitely left his mark in this community.

I worked with Bob for 25 years in the ER. In my opinion he was the gold standard of ER physicians, simply put, he was a joy to work with. He had a quick smile and worked effectively and in a non judgemental way with our most challenging patients. He will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences to his two daughters and his long term partner, Carole. His presence made the world a better place and he was taken far too soon.

December 23, 2014

Janine and all of Bob's family- Bob has always been one of my favorite big brothers of my friends- even when we were in grade school- he talked to me as if I was of some interest and consequence- his wit was delightful and his slightly jaded perception of the world never failed to amuse and create conversation. Thinking of you all. Mo
