Inspired In Alabama
November 2, 2020
I didn't know Mr. Green, however I read about his life in an article published in Birmingham, Al. Brookside. Al is maybe a few miles outside the Birmingham city limits. Mr. Green's life is an inspiration. Like Mr. Green, I too, am an engineer. Although I am half Mr Green age, I can imagine the struggles he encountered and overcome in life; both at work and in the suburbs at that time. I salute Mr. Green and all of those engineers that have paved a way. Thank you sir, your work is done. Now rest in paradise.

Dear Roslyn and family,
On behalf of my late father, Manny Block, as well as the rest of our family, please accept sincere condolences for your loss of a wonderful person, Bob Green. I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s listening to my dad’s stories about working with Bob on the latest computer systems and Defense contracts. They really were American pioneers in the field, figuring out how to adapt and develop a new technology to meet the needs of the postwar U. S. My Dad always spoke of Bob with the highest regard for his intellect and talent as an engineer. They were also fast friends who enjoyed traveling together on business as well as evening poker games extending late into the night. It is through the latter that I first met Bob myself. As a young school girl I was supposed to be in bed by the time the guys arrived for poker at our house. I couldn’t resist tiptoeing out of my room, peaking around corners, and eavesdropping on the conversation and laughter. I remember Bob’s big booming laugh like it was yesterday. Once I grew old enough to stay up later and say hello to the poker guests, Bob’s warm demeanor and infectious grin made quite an impression.
Sadly, my Dad Manny also passed away from lymphoma, in 2018 at the age of 92. I wish he could be writing this letter; Bob was a treasured friend and colleague. May memories of Bob always be a blessing to your family.
Sincerely,
Ellen (Block) Johnson
