He was an avid duck hunter and down hill skier and pursued these passions for decades. He passed these rich traditions down to his children and grandchildren and his spirit lives on in every great hunt and each perfect powder day. Bob's love of spending time with his family at the cabin is legendary. His grandfather first visited the Whitefish Chain in the late 1920's and Bob grew up enjoying the year round beauty of Rush Lake and the city of Crosslake. His great grandchildren represent the 6th generation of Murnane family members to enjoy the beauty of the area. Bob's last visit to the family cabin was this past Thanksgiving. Bob graduated from Nativity of Our Lord grade school and St Thomas Academy (53') and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of St.Thomas. He received his law degree from the University of Minnesota in 1959 and enjoyed an impressive 50 year career as a successful and admired trial attorney in the law firm started by his father (E.W. Murnane) and his uncle (Charles Murnane) in 1940. The Murnane law firm was a reputable and respected law firm for over 70 years and Bob played a crucial role in the firm's success and growth. In later years he mentored many of the firms new attorneys and his colleagues and peers held him in the highest regard. He was well known for his respect, integrity, intellect and humility. Due to COVID restrictions there will be a private family funeral at Nativity of Our Lord church in St. Paul at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday January 12, 2021. The service will be live streamed and available at www.nativitystpaul.org. A private burial will be held in Crosslake Mn next spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Our Lady of Peace Home, or Union Gospel of St. Paul. A Celebration of Life will be held during the summer of 2021.

Robert Murnane was the best father-in-law that a girl could ever have. I feel so blessed to have had him be a part of my life for over 28 years.

The first day I met him he gave me the biggest hug and I knew at that moment that he was an amazing, loving and wonderful man.

He never passed judgement, he showed empathy towards others and loved everyone just the way they are. He loved his family to the utmost degree. He was always sincerely interested in what everyone was up to. He impressed me the most with his strong faith and knowledge of the law. He was very intelligent and was always reading the latest historical biography.

I will miss him dearly but I know that I will think about him every day.
