Rose M. Gustafson

Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother & Friend to All Passed away suddenly Monday, Jan. 31, 2011 from a heart attack. Preceded in death by parents and brother. Survived by husband Herb of 64 years & children Karen (Blackstad), Kathy (Bidney), Aric & Kristy (Dubois), 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law Melvin (Indiana) & Marshall (St. Paul) & relatives in Nebraska & California. Rose was born April 11, 1926 in Lushton, NE, attended a one - room school in rural NE and graduated from McCool Junction HS in 1943. She met her husband in Omaha in 1944, who was attending an Army Specialty School in Ft. Crook. They were married in York, NE on Dec. 27, 1946, returned to St. Paul, raised their family & was employed at West Publishing Co. (Comparing Dept.) for 28 yrs, retiring in 1989. The family tree on her mother's side (Tetreau/Tatro) can be traced back to 1634 and French nobility, with a branch in Quebec, Can. dating back to 1662. Rose & her husband were passionate world travelers, visiting nearly 50 European & Asian countries & enjoyed her service work & friends at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Vadnais Heights & at Applewood Pointe of Woodbury - a senior's co-op residence, where she lived the past 5 yrs. participating in their Kitchen Band, Library, Book Groups & Bible Study, playing Bunco, Bingo, and Hand & Foot card games, although wheelchair bound due to back surgeries. Rose will be cremated with a Memorial Service being conducted at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Vadnais Heights, with formal announcements of such Service being published at a later date.
