Samuel Stelzig Obituary

At the age of 69 On November 16, 2009 He was a member of the Mount Zion Temple of St. Paul, Minnesota. Sam always wanted to be remembered as having made many contributions to our society rather than having taken away from it. He also wished to be remembered as having been able to put many smiles on the faces of others. Sam was a Master Mason in Como Lodge #324, and a Noble of the Osman Shrine Temple in St. Paul where he was an active member of the Patrol and Chanters Units. Sam has been an Assistant Scout Master of Scout Troup #243 for fifteen years. Sam had a Masters Degree in Industrial Technology Education and taught Students at North High School in North St. Paul., and loved them very much. He was always there for them and willing to help as much as he could. Sam dearly loved his surviving wife, Joyce Stelzig and mother, Peg Stelzig. Sam was very proud of his two children, Kimberly Stelzig and Scott Stelzig (Mia Nyia Lor); and grandchildren Sammy, Ben and Michael. Sam also loved his Mini Schnauzer, Nick Frederic his constant companion. Funeral service THURSDAY, 12:00 noon at MOUNT ZION TEMPLE, 1300 Summit Ave., St. Paul. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find peace in the fond memories of your loved one. I met him once when he and Kim stopped in Madison and spent the night - on their way to Chicago to get Kim's Passport. He was such a joy to meet. I feel a fondness that he was able to enjoy the special lift chair that my departed husband used and a dear friend of our's who had ALS used before my husband. So three wonderful guys sat in the same chair. I also am thankful for his kindness to my daughter Brenda during the years. Take care and find the love of the Lord - during the coming days.

Sincerely, Sharon Gehl

Our family will miss his humor, wit and his big smile he always seemed to have, no matter how much pain he was in. We enjoyed having you come to our family gatherings, be it birthday, the holidays or reunions. We will miss Sam but we have so many good memories and that we will cherish. Peace and joy to Joyce and your family. Delores (Fick) Kline on behalf of the entire Fick brothers and all of our children.

Sorry for the way things ended. It is very obvious that Sam was a noble and loving person. It was an honor to care for him and his family. My simpathy goes out to those that lost this wonderful man.
