Scott Sathers Obituary

Sathers, Scott William Age 29 died tragically in the 35W bridge collapse on August 1, 2007. His home was in Blaine, MN with his adored wife Betsy (nee Ross). Scott was the beloved son of Bill and Linnell Sathers of St. Croix Falls, WI; cherished brother of Sandra and husband Jeff Hawkinson of Golden Valley, MN and very special uncle to his niece Abigail and nephew & godson Nathan Hawkinson; his grandmother, Doris Oberg of Duluth, MN; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Scott will be fondly missed by his wife's parents, Bob and Jill Ross of Blaine, MN; brother-in-law Jason and his wife Ronda of Isanti, MN; and many special relatives from the Ross family. Scott is dearly missed by the family dogs, Dirk and Daisy. Scott was a friend to many people, especially Aaron, Sean and Brian and far too many others to mention by name. Scott was born, August 4, 1977, and grew up in Plymouth, MN graduating from Wayzata High School in 1995. He participated on the varsity hockey and golf teams. He attended St. Olaf College. Scott had an enthusiasm for whatever job he undertook, often working more than one job and attending school. His first job was as a caddy at Wayzata CC., he interned with the Minnesota Twins, was a waiter & bartender at TGIFriday's and at Lord Fletcher's, a cook, a carpenter, a salesman for Precision Pours and Pro Motorsports. He felt he found a company that not only appreciated his abilities but also respected his work ethic while most recently employed as an enrollment services director for Capella University. He considered many of his co-workers to be his close friends during the 2 ½ years he worked there. Scott had many interests and talents, with spending time with his wife, his family and his friends being the most important. Scott was an avid golfer and proud to share his successes on the course with anyone that would listen. He was a knowledgeable and enthusiastic racing fan and had been to many races. Scott enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking and planning special home projects. He enjoyed playing video games, board games and participating in fantasy football. Scott will always be remembered for his sense of adventure, grand ideas, quick smile and his ever comforting and available hugs, but he will be most remembered for his enduring love for his wife Betsy, his family and his friends. Visitation 5-8 Thursday at ST. PHILIP THE DEACON LUTHERAN CHURCH (17205 County Road 6, Plymouth, 55447). Memorial service 10AM Friday at the church. David Lee Funeral Home Wayzata 952-473-5577

Dear Linnell, Bill, Sandy, Betsy and family,
I am so, so very sad for your loss. I taught with Linnell for several years at Fair Oaks Elementary, and although I don't think I ever met Scott in person, I remember how Linnell would talk about Scott and how much she loved him. From what I have read, it is clear that he was a wonderfully loving man who was adored by all who knew him. I have children of my own, and I can't imagine the depth of your pain and loss in losing your son. There are absolutely no words to ease the sadness and loss you are all feeling, but please know that my many thoughts and prayers are with you now and always. I have been thinking of you all since I first realized that Scott was your son, Linnell, and I will continue to be thinking of you and your entire family. Betsy, I am so sorry that your time with Scott was cut so short. The love you shared will always be, and Scott will always be with you and watching over you. God Bless you all. With Love, Michele Haag & Family
