Walter was a great friend and like a second father to me. He helped me understand politics and he allowed me to chair his 1962 re-election campaign. He was a model of what a great person and what a great civic leader could be with his faith, his integrity, and his intellect.The highest honor I received in my life was when he asked me to be his best man at his wedding.
