ILLA FOSTER Obituary

ILLA FERN FOSTER Illa Fern (Hendricks) Foster. March 25th 1937 to January 11th 2024. Illa lived a long and interesting life. She was born in Fort Duchesne Utah to Alice (Reed) Hendricks and Charles A. Hendricks. She had a variety of hobbies and occupations. Mom could train any animal. She trained a huge bull named Homer. She taught herself to trick ride on a horse they caught at John Star Flat. She made quite a show as a young Native American Girl trick riding in pro rodeos. She knew Movie Stars and World Champion Cowboys. She sewed her own beautiful outfits she wore. There is a picture of her in the Ute museum trick riding. She mastered playing a full size accordian in one week as a child. She also played piano by ear, she never had any music lessons. She sang and played Country Music in bands, she could even yodel. She loved to crochet. She could bead. She was a great cook. She would pick blackberries and make great cobblers for her children. She could oil paint and scrape hides. She had the idea to bleach the hair and make a beauriful white Buffalo on one. She was also a loving mother to five children. She was preceded in death by her mother and father also her siblings, of which there were 10 all together. She is survived by her children and their spouses. Debra Ann (Neil) Thacker. Delbert Duane (Christine) Foster. Dawn Annette (Ronnie) Coker. John Fitzgerald Foster. Vickie Lynette Forrest. Kyla and Tom Woods informally adopted children. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and two great great grand children. There will be a celebration of life this summer when we return her ashes to her home state of Utah. She will be forever loved and missed. Her favorite hymn was playing when she passed. Anne Murray's rendition of In The Garden.

Illa was known to me as Aunt illa...she was my Dad, Alvin"lil sonny" Denvers' cousin....she would sit with him for hours and tell stories of their childhood. I have many photos of her trick riding in her younger days.
John and Delbert and your siblings, I am sorry for your loss... I will always have fond memories of your mother.
