Doris Blake Obituary

Doris Marie Blake passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on September 14th at her home in Redwood Valley. Doris was known for her spunk, her lemon meringue pie & the sparkle in her eye. She loved the word puzzles in the Ukiah Daily Journal & made the call to the UDJ staff to let them know when there was a mistake she had found. She enjoyed watching "Monk" on TV & often compared herself to that character because she was a "perfectionist". Her family lovingly compared her to "Lucy" in the old "I Love Lucy" series due to her wackiness & high energy. At age 82, she still wanted to climb up on the roof to sweep off the leaves after raking up the yard.

Born May 12, 1926 in Canton, Ohio, Doris is survived by her children: Joe Conway of Concord, N.C.; Debra Blake of Vashon, WA; and John Blake of Redwood Valley. "Sis" will also be sadly missed by her brothers, Robert Griffin, Sr. & wife, Judy, of Ocala, FL; Chester Griffin & wife, Marlene, of Canton, OH; William Griffin of Canton, OH; & James Griffin & wife, Karen, of Arlington, TX.

Doris attended Redwood Valley Community Church & also leaves behind many friends at Autumn Leaves & the Ukiah Senior Center where she liked to play Bingo and also was a Bingo caller. Doris was preceded in death by her longtime husband, Charles Blake, ("the love of my life,") who died 2 years ago from colon cancer. Remembrances may be made to the Hospice of Ukiah or Ukiah Senior Center.

there is now a void in the family with Sis gone. It will never be filled, nor should it be. She often said how proud she was of her brothers, but, I think the pride actually belongs to them because of the kind of sister she was. Miss ya, Sis

I will miss my sister-in-law very much. She was so loving and really looked at me as a sister. We had some wonderful conversations. Her winning smile and infectious laugh will stay in my memory forever.
