We just learned of Ada's passing. She was my mom's best friend for many decades as their kids were growing up - me included. I recall my mom giving her a baby grand piano which I played in our house for many years, then in Ada's house in Goffstown for a few years after during our visits. Ada let us use her big field across the street so we could test out hang gliders - she thought they looked like fun and wanted to try it - I think this was about 50 years ago and I was 10 years old. So very sorry for your loss, Ada was one of a kind and I can still hear her voice in my head.

Back in the 1970s, I discovered that I shared ancestry with Carl Barton, Ada's husband. Carl's grandmother, Fannie Fifield, was also my great-grandmother. I met with Ada, and she shared a huge amount of genealogical material she had on the Fifield family. I was a fledgling genealogist at the time, and the info she provided served as a solid foundation for my work ever since. And this was all long before ancestry.com. She was very gracious, and I will always remember her that way. (Carl was also gracious, allowing me to work a couple of summers at NH Insurance while I was going through law school.)
I trust that there are many happy memories to comfort all of you in the days ahead.
