Barbara Kennedy Obituary

Barbara Kennedy (DeNute) of Rye, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on October 15, 2025.

Barbara was born on August 31, 1928, in Manchester, NH, where she lived until moving full-time to her beloved beach house in Rye in 2018. For decades, she spent summers there surrounded by family and friends, hosting countless cookouts, gatherings, and cherished moments by the ocean. Rye Beach will forever hold her spirit- a place filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories shared by all who knew her.

Barbara lived a rich and full life, embracing all that it offered. She attended Manchester West High School and graduated from Mount St. Mary's College before beginning her career as a teacher. She later met the love of her life, Angus Kennedy, of Queens, New York. Together they built a beautiful life, raising their family and sharing laughter, golf, and adventures with friends.

After Angus's untimely passing at the young age of 52, Barbara remained resilient and active, traveling to Florida and Europe and staying close with her many dear friends. A devoted Catholic, she attended daily Mass for many years and lived her faith through kindness and gratitude.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Angus Kennedy (January 4, 1981); her son, Thomas Angus Kennedy (August 25, 2013); and her parents, Hector and Marion (Harlan) DeNute.

She is survived by her sons, Donald Angus Kennedy (Dottie) and Richard Angus Kennedy (Nancy); Daughter in Law, Dorothea Tsipopoulos; her grandchildren, Andrew M. Kennedy (Lauren), Jessica K. Svirsky (Justin), and Kelsey K. Beliveau (Andrew); and great-granddaughters, Amelia and Addalyn Svirsky. Barbara treasured every moment spent with her family and was deeply proud of each of them.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Barbara for a period of visitation on Monday, October 27, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home - Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. A funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, October 28, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa's Church, 815 Central Road, Rye Beach, NH 03871. Burial will be private and Barbara will be laid to rest beside her husband at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bedford.

Yesterday

My parents Mary and Adam Pitula rent a beach house in Rye every summer for 2 weeks when my siblings and I were growing up. I believe we rented from Barbara herself or a family member. Just a wonderful family. My condolences to all of Barbara's family.
