Barbara Tallent Mace

Barbara Tallent Hart Mace, age 95, of Goffstown, passed away on September 19th at home, in the presence of loving family.

She was born at Moore General Hospital in Grasmere NH to Geraldine Eva Smith Hart and Gordon Preston Hart of Goffstown. She grew up with her sister, Virginia Sadler, and attended Goffstown schools.

She was an RN graduate of New England Deaconess Hospital, Boston, and served as a nurse her entire life, including time as a night charge nurse at Moore General Hospital, and nurse for the American Red Cross. She was a dedicated volunteer for the Goffstown Historical Society, Goffstown Historic District Commission, and Main Street Program. She was tremendously proud of her home town history and created a record of those buried in Goffstown's cemeteries.

She married Richard D. Mace in 1949, and they raised their children on Mountain Road in Goffstown. They loved tending their gardens together on their property at Windsong, always happy to welcome travelers by to enjoy a bit of rest and conversation. She was always keen for an adventure, traveling to Scotland and Ireland in her 80's, and zip lining in her 90th year.

Family members include children, Daniel Mace (and Fernande) of Gaspe QC, Robert Hart Mace (and Debi) of Forsyth MO, and Bonnie Mace Calhoun (and Christopher) of Goffstown; grandchildren Borne, Justin, Sky, Vanessa, Hayley, Alexander, and Paul; great-grandchildren Frances, Naomi, Anne, and Margaret.

A memorial mass will be held on October 7th at 2:00pm at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Goffstown.
