GROVELAND, Mass. - Barbara A. (Meder) Meyer, 93 years young, died, Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 in the Halcyon House in Methuen, Mass. with her loving family by her side after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Berthold "Bert" C. Meyer with whom she is now reunited with in heaven after five years.Born Oct. 30, 1920 in Plainfield, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Josephine Meder. She was a graduate of Plainfield High School and also attended Berkeley School of Secretarial Training in New Jersey. Barbara proudly enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944 during W.W.II until she was honorably discharged in 1946.Barbara worked as a secretary for various legal and public relations firms and also for the renowned, Brown Brothers Harriman in New York City. In her spare time she could be found knitting, crocheting, sewing, and cooking homemade after school treats for her children. Her all-time favorite delicacy was lobster which she continued to enjoy until the last few months.Her devotion as a wife, mother and grandmother was immeasurable. Her family considered her to be their best friend as well. Barbara's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Halcyon House for the outstanding care their mother received during her stay with them.Barbara is survived by her children, Walter C. Meyer and his wife, Edith L. of Bedford, Douglas R. Meyer of Haverhill, Mass. and Carol Anne Angley and her husband, John R. of Exeter; four grandchildren, Alex B. Meyer of Bedford, Collin W. Meyer of Natick, Mass. and Brian E.F. and Barbara M. Angley of Exeter.

services: Visiting hours will be Tuesday, 4 to 8 p.m. in Linnehan- Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 11 a.m. in Groveland Congregational Church, 4 King St., Groveland. Interment will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Mill Street, Haverhill.
