Careen DuBuc Cardin

Careen DuBuc Cardin, loving wife and mother, passed away suddenly on March 13, 2021, at her home in Hopkinton, NH, at the age of 36. She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith (Edie) Loeb-Tomasko, her father, Vincent E. DuBuc, as well as her stepfather, Robert (Bob) M. Tomasko. She is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Cardin, daughters, Bristol Emery Cardin and Bentleigh Avery Cardin, of Hopkinton, NH; brother, Cody DuBuc (Molly), along with nephews, Theo and August DuBuc, of Boston, MA; stepbrothers Kevin Tomasko (Rob Livingston) of Hopkinton, NH, Robert Tomasko, Jr. (Lisa) and Allen Tomasko (Nancy), both of Marlow, NH; stepsisters Karen Shockey (David) of Wilsall, MT and Patrice Pierce (Pete) of Rising Sun, MD; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. "Squiggs" as she was known by her family and friends, loved horses from an early age. Horses were always a part of her life, beginning with lessons from her mom, Edie Tomasko, and then working with her stepbrother, owner/trainer of Phoenix Stables, Kevin Tomasko, to begin show competitions. Careen was a skilled, accomplished and award-winning horsewoman. She competed in National Horse Shows around the country, winning many awards, most notably with her winning horse, Undulata's Jimmy Hollywood, during the 2003 Junior Exhibitor World's Grand Championship in Louisville, Kentucky. She loved competing and was still traveling and winning shows around the country until her death. Careen was first and foremost a loving wife and mother to her two beautiful daughters, Bristol and Bentleigh. She was kind and loving and had a generous soul. She will be missed by her many friends, relatives, her beloved horses and dogs and many countless others that she knew and loved in this life. Memorial services will be held later this year when all can be together safely.
