I don't believe you need to physically know a person to feel their pain. I didn't know Charlie or his family, but by reading this beautifully written obituary, you get a sense of who Charlie was and how much he meant to his family and friends. His bright, shining light was extinguished way too soon, but he will live on in the hearts of those who loved and knew him best. My most Sincere and heartfelt condolences to his entire family and please know that your community mourns with you.

May you find peace in knowing that he grabbed life and enjoyed so much of it in his short time among you all. And may we all take his lead to find the joy in this life that we have today.

We are heartbroken for your family. Charlie was an absolute treasure. He was in our son Justin's class for many years during preschool and elementary school. He was a kind friend and smart beyond his years. He was loved by his classmates for sharing all his knowledge and facts with them in the most gentle and humble way. "My friend Charlie Z knows everything!" our son would boast while at the dinner table when reciting all the amazing facts he he had learned from Charlie while in Mrs. Cushman's 1st and 2nd grade class. As a community, I know each of us wishes we could carry even a small piece of your grief in order to help lessen your family's pain. Sincerely, the Reid/Kloc Family

Hello, my name is Audrey, I read the story about Charles Arthur Zink and my heart goes out to his family and friends. A lovely boy indeed who passed on fathers day as my mother in June 20th1993. Zink was 15 but an amazing young man with a smile to lighten up a room and his enthusiasm for school is indeed a pleasure to know. I am so sorry and mourn your loss today. I will pray for the family & friends that personally knew this brilliant young man and may his passions linger on with his siblings and with Hazel the cat and Wilson the doggie. I wish and hope that the memories of young Charles will make people realize that kindness is a virtue and that we need to do more as Charles would do to create a better future. Amen

Alyssa, Eric and Family, and all your extended family;
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you during this difficult and heartbreaking time. I never had the pleasure of meeting him; but I know that he came from good stock; and and was a clearly a pleasure to be around from the sound of things.
May it comfort you to know that he is at peace and having a blast, up above, with his grandparents and others, until you all meet again.
There is no rhyme or reason, but God surely blessed Charlie, and wanted him for a reason.
God Bless+

We are still trying to process the unforeseeable tragedy that has happened to your family. It may be something we will never understand how this young man was taken so early. Cameron enjoyed playing basketball with him when they competed in town. They were in the same class this past year and, though, Cameron went back to in person the last 6 weeks of school, he will cherish the time he had with him. Charlie has left a footprint in our hearts. Wish you peace and solace. All our love, Dyson Family.

Dear Alyssa, Eric, and the entire Zink/Pappas extended family,
My heartfelt condolences to you for your tremendous loss. I had Charlie as a 7th Grader in English Language Arts and he was a true gem! He was a young man of great talent and so full of wit and charisma. His class was one of my best groups ever and we shared so many incredible times together. The memories that stick out to me most are when Charlie led class discussions, stories of Uncle Chris (including the narrative he wrote about their special relationship), and his incredible mix of silly and dry humor. I also appreciated all the visits he paid me during 8th Grade and was particularly touched one day when he could sense I wasn't my normal self. He said, "Why don't we talk about the Oscars? I know they're your favorite and a foreign movie finally won!" Needless to say, I was so deeply touched and it made my tough day all the better. It's clear from all that he accomplished in his short 15 years that you have memories to hold onto forever. You raised a fine young man and must be so proud of him. My thoughts will be with you all in the coming days, weeks, and months. I will hold onto my stories of Charlie forever and am so glad I had the privilege of teaching him. I am going to miss him terribly.
My sympathies. May his memory be eternal. Peace and blessings to you all.
