Clarence Wentworth Obituary

RAYMOND -- Clarence M. "Charlie" Wentworth, 85, died Jan. 16, 2010, at his home.

He was born Sept. 22, 1924, in St. Felix de Kinsey, P.Q., Canada, to Edmund Wentworth and Peggy Mott. He grew up in Canada. He joined the Canadian Navy and served as allies with the United States during World War II. He worked as a brick mason for the local union in Boston. He attended the Peterson's School of Engineering in Boston, and later worked as a boiler engineer for Merrimack Paper in Lawrence, Mass., for 20 years.

He was a longtime resident in Peabody, Mass., and other cities on the North Shore. He resided in Raymond for the past 26 years.

He was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church of Peabody, and was currently a member of Providence Baptist Church, Epping. He was a member and past commander of American Legion Post No. 91 in Candia, and was a member of Canadian Legion Branch 15 in Richmond, P.Q.

He enjoyed golfing and fishing.

He was predeceased by a son, Scott Wentworth, and his stepmother, Evelyn Wentworth.

Family members include his loving wife of 25 years, Priscilla (White) Wentworth of Raymond; five sons, Wayne T. Wentworth of Epping, Randal Wentworth of Exeter, Bruce Wentworth of Plaistow, James White of Raymond and Mickey White of Washington, D.C.; four daughters, Charlene Webster of Peabody, Mass., JoAnn Gates of Salem, Mass., Lori Landry of W. Bridgewater, Mass. and Betty Mahaffey of Hilton Head, S.C.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Klea Wentworth Mastine of Quebec, Canada, many nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church, 410 Pleasant St., Epping. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church, Epping. The Rev. Adam Houston will officiate.

Following a reception at the church, burial will be in New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen,at 2 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 410 Pleasant St., Epping 03042.
