Dale Patterson Obituary

CANTERBURY - Dale E. Patterson, 82, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at his home.

He was born in Plymouth to John F. Patterson Sr. and Marjorie (Burt) Patterson in the spring of 1934. He grew up in Rumney, attending the local grade schools and graduating from Plymouth Regional High School with the Class of 1953.

After high school, Dale worked at some local jobs and then joined the United States Army Corps of Engineers, serving two years in France and Germany. After serving overseas, Dale moved back to Rumney and worked in the lumber business until he moved to New Jersey in 1963.

He married Judith McPartland in 1965 and they came to Canterbury in 1968. After working for various construction companies for a little over 20 years, Dale opened his own heavy equipment repair shop, ""Patterson Repair Services, Inc.,"" in 1986, which he owned and operated for many years, until his retirement.

Dale was a member of the Canterbury United Community Church in Canterbury, where he was a trustee of the church for many years. He was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers No. 98. In his retirement, he never really gave up work, it just became focused on something else, such as his gardening or taking time and taking lumber and wood off the family wood lot. Dale always loved to work on all things mechanical.

Dale was predeceased by his parents, as well as two brothers, John F. Patterson Jr. and Robert A. Patterson.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Judith (McPartland) Patterson of Canterbury; his two daughters, Noreen Cochrane and her husband, Peter, of Canterbury and Heather Cassavaugh and her husband, Wayne Jr., of Franklin; four grandchildren, Victoria Miracle, Travis Miracle, Nicholas Keifer, and Colton Keifer; a great-granddaughter, Hayden Hart; two brothers, Allan Patterson of Northfield, Vt., and Morris Patterson of Thornton; a sister, Carol Dusseault of Concord; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Love you always and forever Uncle Dale. I know we will have a family reunion in Heaven someday and that gives me comfort but I sure wish time could stand still when we all reached a certain age and that we could live forever. You will be missed as we journey on. Thank you for being you and all you did to help each of us. Hugs.
