PLYMOUTH -- Daniel Field, 81, died Sept. 12, 2008, at Mountain Ridge Health Care Center, Franklin.
He was born June 12, 1927, in Sharon, Mass., to Wilbert and Edna (Drake) Field.
He was a U.S. Navy Reserves veteran of World War II. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts.
He worked in the insurance business in Boston for 45 years with large firms such as Frank B. Hall, Fireman's Fund, and John Hancock.
He was involved with the Masons for more than 40 years and served as Grand Master of Mt. Lebanon Lodge A.F. & A.M. from 1967-68. He belonged to Olive Branch Lodge #16 in the Plymouth area.
He was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, and Bruins.
He was an avid supporter of Plymouth Regional High School football.
He moved to Plymouth in 2003, and resided with his nephew, Michael Currier, of Plymouth, wife Robin, and daughters Kelly and Lindsay.
Other family members include a niece, Lynn Currier of Randolph, Mass.; a nephew, Steven Currier of Sullivan's Island, S.C.; and great-nieces and a great-nephew.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon St., Plymouth. A Masonic service will be held at 3 p.m. A graveside service will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Dry Pond Cemetery, Stoughton, Mass.
Memorial donations may be made to Charles L. and Francis F. Currier Scholarship, Advancement Office, MSC #50, Plymouth State University, Plymouth 03264. Checks should be made out to PSC and write Currier Scholarship on the memo line. For more information, go to www.mayhewfuneralhomes.com.

Dan was a kind and generous man. A simple man who truly loved his family and friends. Always willing to help.
I am ever thankful to God for His giving us all these years with Dan. He will be missed by us all.
