David Mayhew Obituary
Born Jan. 16, 1964, in Plymouth, he was the son of the late James Francis Sr. and Eileen Anne [Phippard] Mayhew.
David is survived by his wife, Norma Jean (Aron) Mayhew of Plymouth; his children, Monica Mayhew, Emily Mayhew, William Mayhew, all of Edgewater, M.D.; his mother, Eileen A. Mayhew of Plymouth; brothers, James F. Mayhew Jr, John R. Mayhew, both of Plymouth, and Peter G. Mayhew of Holderness; sister, Mary Anne Mayhew of Plymouth; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins.

services:Calling hours will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon St., Plymouth, on Thursday, Aug. 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Holy Trinity Parish, St. Matthews Church, School Street, Plymouth, on Friday at noon. The Rev. Robert Cole, pastor of St. Katherine's Drexel Church in Wolfeboro, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the David W. Mayhew Scholarship Fund at Mt. Prospect School, c/o Meredith Village Savings Bank, 131 Main St., Plymouth 03264. He was an amazing teacher and father figure. He helped out a lot of troubled teens that needed to be guided. He will always be in my heart and never forgotten. I am so sorry for your loss. He was truely the greatest person.

To all of the Mayhew family...we have been so blessed to have you in our lives professionally, but more important, personally. Every single one of you has been there for my family in various ways through the years. You are, without a doubt, some of the most beautiful people I have ever known. David leaving us has left a huge void that will never be filled. I pray that you find comfort in knowing that he is now with the best with no more wordly troubles. May God Bless and keep you all safe and sound and give you the strength you need to get through this very sad time. We will all miss him. So very verry sorry for your heartbreak. Mr. Mayhew was probably my favorite teacher. Checked up on me in classes and in life to make sure he was doing everything he could to help me out. Told me that I reminded him of his daughter and that no man would ever be good enough for me like my daddy is. He was an amazing man and teacher. the world has lost a kind, funny and generous soul. I pray for you Mr. Mayhew and I pray for the daughter(s) you told me I reminded you of. Im sorry you lost your fight, may you rest in peace

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
