Denise Robert Obituary

BEDFORD - Denise J. Robert, 62, of Bedford, died unexpectedly Aug. 30, 2015.

She was born in Manchester on Nov. 28, 1952, to Ernest and Jeannine (Duhaime) Robert and was a lifelong resident of the area.

She attended St. George's Elementary and Immaculata High School. She went on to earn an associate degree at Hesser College in medical secretarial science, a bachelor of science degree in business studies/marketing at Southern New Hampshire University and obtained her N.H. real estate license.

Denise was an energetic, creative, kind soul who lived life on her own terms. In her early years, she studied ballet and different forms of painting and drawing. An avid exercise enthusiast, she particularly enjoyed hiking, mountain climbing, biking, walking and swimming and always found a way to fit in some activity in the course of the day. She was never on time but would always be the first to help out with any emerging family issues.

Denise, the oldest of 12 children, was very attentive to her many siblings and extended family, a habit that developed early in life. She strived to set the best example and was quick to facilitate day-to-day issues.

For most of her career she sold advertising. Initially for The Neighborhood Newspapers and eventually for the New Hampshire Union Leader. She relished the interaction she had with her many clients and always had a passionate approach to her work.

Denise leaves behind her mother of Bedford and 11 siblings: Francoise Elise and her husband, Michael Guidi, of Boston, Mass., Thomas M. Robert and his wife, Judith, and Peter Robert, all of Manchester, Ernest A. Robert Jr. and his wife, Mariane, of Deerfield, Martin P. Robert of Lee, Anne Marie Baker and her husband, Andrew, of Stratham, Arthur P. Robert and his wife, Katherine, of Natick, Mass., David N. Robert and his wife, Kendra, of Manchester, John P. Robert and his wife, Danielle, of Norwalk, Conn., Joseph V. Robert and his wife, Kristen, of Manchester, and Charles E. Robert and his wife, Pamela, of Bedford; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins..

SERVICES: Calling hours are Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Marie Church, 378 Notre Dame Ave., Manchester. Committal prayers will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made in Denise's honor to the New Hampshire Food Bank, which is a program of Catholic Charities, 700 E. Industrial Park Drive, Manchester, NH, 03109.

Oh Denise -
Never ever did I think such a wonderful, warm person of such good will and strong passion for others could be taken in such a violent way. May all your good live on in everyone you've touched throughout your very meaningful life.
I shall miss your smiling presence.

To the most amazing, independent, strong willed person I have ever known. She may have been the smallest person in the room, but was the stongest and most relentless person day in and day out. Rest Denise. You will always be my role model in life.

Twenty years ago, when I worked in the deli at Hanaford's, she was, without exaggeration, my favorite customer. She was always kind, polite and had this "joy" about her that made you think she was having a great day. My deepest sympathy for her family's loss.

My heart aches for the Robert family and all those who knew and loved Denise. It is a rarity to be met in the workplace by a person as kind and gentle as Denise matched with an incredible work ethic and dedication to her employer and the relationships she cultivated. If I takeaway one thing from knowing Denise, it is that she was a steadfast light, undeterred by darkness. Thank you for that example, Denise and Godspeed. I look forward to giving you a hug in Glory!

Although I have not seen Denise since my high school days from 1966-1970 at Immaculata, I always remember her infectious smile and positive attitude. It is such a tragedy to see a vivacious woman's life cut short this way...My sincere condolences to the entire family at this time.

Denise was such a sweet soul back in high school. Such a tragic loss. May the words of those she touched bring you comfort at this most sad and difficult time.

September 2, 2015

I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with an incredible group of talented individuals as the advertising manager at Neighborhood News from 1998 to 2003. I will never forget the day I started when this warm hearted person came up to me with a bright smile to welcome me and expressed how excited she was to get started working together. That person was Denise Robert, and over the course of the next 5 years this spirited, committed individual never ceased to amaze me. Focus, drive, commitment are but a few words to describe her. It never mattered to me when she started her work day, or how she managed her day to day routine, because what stood out was an outstanding drive and dedication to her work, all the while striving to grow personally.
While she never hesitated to challenge direction I might have issued, she never failed to take it on when I asked for it. And she was successful every time.
Tomorrow I, along with the original team will be there to support Denise in this next passage the same way we supported each other at Neighborhood News. Denise, you will not be doing this alone. Rest my dear friend, knowing you are respected and loved.
God bless. Janet Ramsay Dunlap

Denise showed us how a real desire to serve others can make a difference in ones life and affect the lives of all you encounter. She was a true professional in her field. I worked with her many years ago at Neighborhood News where I also worked in sales. She was a real joy and you could feel her positive energy and it was contagious. I never heard her say an unkind word about anyone even some of the difficult people that were not always easy for us to deal with and those that were not easily persuaded to listen to the benefits of advertising. She told me something that stuck with me over the years "No doesn't mean no...it just means not now" She went on to tell me that most of her sales came after several visits. She built relationships with people. She didn't sell. She gained their trust over time and these people became very important to her. She truly cared about them. She showed me how persistence pays and that sales is about serving not selling. The world is missing a great human being that had wisdom beyond her years. Perhaps that comes from being the oldest in a large family. She had such a kind heart and even though I haven't seen her in years... I can still remember her voice, her smile, her laugh and the kindness she showed to me and everyone. Mom you did a great job instilling values in your wonderful daughter. She touched many and will not be forgotten. My deepest sympathy to the entire Robert family for your loss. Her spirit will live on along with all the beautiful memories she gave us. God Bless.

Though we didn't see one another often since our days at Immaculata High, we ran into each other, usually in the parking lot at the Executive, and got caught up with our lives. I was voted "Miss School Spirit" in 1969 when I graduated. Denise got the award in 1970 the year she graduated... we always called each other Ms. Spirits when we would see one another. Denise did a "Women in Business" section when she worked at Little Newspapers, out of the Goffstown Office... that was a long time ago! She contacted me and I participated in it. She was amazingly devoted to her job and was a true lover of life... her enthusiasm to stay fit was predominant in her life. It's horribly sad how she was taken away from all those who knew and loved her. Rest in peace, my dear Spirited buddy.

Sincerest condolences to the Robert family for this huge loss. I met Denise about 30 years ago and used to buy advertising from her. She was an amazing and very gifted salesperson! She made putting complex ads together look easy. She was very positive and easy going, but also quite tenacious - it was hard to say no to her! I have no doubt she produced millions of dollars in revenue for the Union Leader Corporation in her long and very successful career.
She will be missed by thousands of people.

I was as Little Newspapers, Inc. when Denise started as our sales rep, which later Nackey Loeb bought and renamed Neighborhood Newspapers. She as a joy to work with during that time, so very energetic. Seemed to remember seeing a pen behind her ear often. Prayers to Denise's family and many friend she has made over the years personally and through work. Will greatly miss you.

Denise was my sales rep and also a friend. Denise modeled for my store in the first fashion show when we opened in 2008. She always stopped by to say hello and chat even when I wasn't buying. She was always smiling and always positive. She saw the good in everyone. I will miss her visits and her smile. The earth lost a good person. My heart goes out to her Mom and family.
