Dennis Beer Obituary

Dennis D. Beer, 77, of Auburn, New Hampshire, passed away on April 17, 2025. A thoughtful and gentle soul, Dennis was known for his love of history, jazz, and storytelling. His legacy is one of curiosity, kindness, and devotion to those he loved.

Born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, Dennis was the son of Wilhelmina (Hubbard) and Donald Beer. He graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy and pursued college courses at Southern New Hampshire University. Though he never completed his final English credit, he remained a lifelong reader and captivating storyteller.

Dennis served in the Vietnam War as a Technical Specialist 5 in cryptography, where he discovered a lifelong talent for working with machines. He later built a respected career as an electronics technician throughout Southern New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

In seventh grade, Dennis met his future wife, Brenda McDowell, by throwing a snowball at her at her family's ice-skating rink. They married in 1970 after his return from Vietnam and shared 55 adventurous years together, traveling the world and building a life filled with love.

Dennis loved long walks (often timed by jazz CDs), feeding backyard squirrels, and exploring everything from ancient history to modern politics. His greatest joy came from quiet moments with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Brenda; daughter Paula Lescure; son-in-law John Lescure; and beloved granddaughter Emmaline Lescure. He also leaves behind extended family and many dear friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother William, and many cherished dogs.

Dennis will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered in every shared story, jazz tune, and peaceful walk under New Hampshire skies.

A burial service will take place on Stannard Mountain, Vermont in September.

Brenda and family I was so saddened to hear of Dennis passing away,I was so glad that we had reconnected this past fall and was looking forward .to getting together again this spring. Even though we had not seen each other for many years we will always be brothers as of our special bond which will never be forgotten. When we got together this fall after so many years it was like we just was another day from our past where we shared so many stories and especially the one about his R&R experience with you Brenda. I just feel so lucky to have known Dennis and to be able to call him a friend and a brother who will live on in my fondest memories forever.
