Edith Genevieve "Didi" Hadik

1938 - 2022

Edith G. Hadik affectionately known as Didi, of Exeter, NH passed away at Riverwoods of Exeter at the age of 84. Born in France to Emile and Elisabeth Gaillet, Didi was the youngest of 6 children - she is pre-deceased by Charlotte Stancioff, Elisabeth Delavigne, Fanny Guerlain, Bernard Gaillet and survived by Helene de Neergaard.

The family settled in Larchmont, NY in 1946. After graduating high school, Didi worked in NY. It was in NYC at the Plaza Hotel that she met her late husband, Count John Bela Hadik of Chester, NH, while attending a ball.

Didi had immense love and pride for her three sons, Miska (Stephanie) Hadik of Nottingham, Jancsi Hadik of Switzerland and Stephen (Cherries) Hadik of Switzerland. She also deeply loved her two grandchildren Dimitri and Sarah. Additionally, she had a large extended family of nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Always one to have fun, she was competitive, and she loved playing games, singing, and being the center of attention. Didi was incredibly talented & funny. She loved to travel and was fortunate to have lived and to explore several countries. After the birth of her third son, the family moved to Veigy, France and then to Geneva, Switzerland. She eventually settled in Water Mill, NY in the mid 80's and then relocated to Exeter NH in 2015 to be closer to family.

Didi was a Catholic for the duration of her life. Her faith was her guiding light and she looked forward to seeing her sisters who passed before her in eternity.

Memorial Service will be held Wednesday December 28 at 11:00 am. St. Michael Church, 9 Lincoln St. Exeter, NH. 03833
