Edward D. Kinney, 64, of Pembroke, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, while fishing with friends.
He was born on June 2, 1961, in Lowell, MA; son of the late James W. and Eleanor (Daniels) Kinney. His family later settled in Merrimack, NH, where he graduated from Merrimack High School and participated in Track & Field and Cross Country. Ed went on to attend Plymouth State College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies/Computer Science. During his time at Plymouth, he was a proud member of Kappa Delta Phi Fraternity and remained active even after graduation. While an undergrad, he was also lucky enough to meet and fall for his wife of 41 years, Susan (Heroux) Kinney.
Edward lived for his family. He coached many Pembroke youth sports organizations, including each of his kids' teams. Grampy found new joy in becoming a grandfather and cherished any time he had with his grandsons. He was extremely active in his church, Bow Mills United Methodist Church, as well as with the NH Trail Dawgs Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed snowmobiling, tinkering in his yard and with cars, traveling with his wife, especially to historical sites, and going for long runs. He took pride in donating blood regularly and his final act of generosity was the gift of organ donation.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Susan; their children, Daniel Kinney of Pembroke, Abigail Newman and her husband Brock of Sunapee, and Bradley Kinney of Manchester; siblings, James Kinney and his wife Heather of San Diego, CA and Susan (Kinney) McNamara and her husband Christopher of Amherst, NH; and his beloved grandsons, Lochlan and Callum. He is also survived by his nephews, Scott, Seth, Ryan, and Matthew; nieces, Anne, Lynne, Corinne, and Rosette; mother-in-law, Norma Heroux, in-laws Everett Heroux, Lauri (Heroux) Arnold and husband Brian; as well as numerous cousins and dear friends.
