MERRIMACK -- Francis Batista, 76, died March 25, 2008, at Green Brier Healthcare Center in Nashua, following a period of declining health.
He was born on May 7, 1931, the son of Antonio and Adelia (Barros) Batista. He lived in Manchester most of his life.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1951-55. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He worked as a driver for both the A-1 Asphalt Co. and Manchester Mental Health Center.
He enjoyed taking walks, working outside his house, and watching golf. He was especially fond of fishing, and will be remembered as an avid Red Sox fan.
Family members include his wife, Pauline (Rochette) Batista, of Merrimack; three daughters, Cheryl Ann Petas, Karen Jean Verville, and Debra Larose; two sons, Scott Batista and Wayne Batista; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren ; one sister, Mary Dionne; two brothers, John Batista and Philip Batista; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
SERVICES: There are no calling hours.
A memorial service, with full military honors, will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Mount Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester.
