Frank Allen Obituary

Frank W. Allen Sr., 81, of Epping, NH, passed away peacefully at his home on May 23, 2025, with his loving family by his side.

Born on February 18, 1944, in Exeter, NH, Frank was the son of the late Bert Allen and Frances (Schanda) Allen. A lifelong resident of Epping, Frank grew up as one of six siblings in a close-knit family. His deep roots in the community and strong family bonds shaped the kind and hardworking man he became.

After graduating high school, Frank proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. He was stationed aboard the USS Intrepid, an aircraft carrier that played a pivotal role in the conflict. It was during this time that he met Doris Ann Caryofilles on a blind date-a serendipitous meeting that blossomed into a loving marriage. Together, they shared over 30 years of devotion and raised two sons before Doris Ann's passing in 1998.

Frank dedicated more than three decades to his career as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator with Covanta Energy in Haverhill, MA. Prior to that, he worked in the logging industry, where his strong work ethic and quiet resilience were well known.

Deeply committed to service and fraternity, Frank was an active and proud member of the Major General John Sullivan Lodge #2 F.&A.M. He was initiated on June 3, 1999, became a Master Mason on September 2, 1999, was raised on November 4, 1999, and served with distinction as Master of the Lodge in 2016. His community involvement extended to membership in the Richard A. Mitchell American Legion Post #51 in Epping, the Elks Club, the Scottish Rite, and the East Coast Tractor Club.

Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife Doris Ann, his parents, his granddaughter Nicole L. Allen, his sisters Kay Casavant and Mae Phillips, and his brother Bruce G. Allen.

He is lovingly remembered by his sons Frank W. Allen Jr. and his wife Rachael of Epping, and Steven Allen of Londonderry; his granddaughter Amanda Allen Bean and great-grandson Lucas Bean of Ossipee; his brother Bert Allen of Barrington; sister June Gangwer of Durham; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Brewitt Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Epping. Masonic services will be held during the visitation starting apx. at 5:30 PM at the funeral home. Another service led by Pastor Ron Townsend will begin at 6:30 PM at the funeral home.

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 1:00-5:00 PM at the Richard A. Mitchell American Legion Post#51, Epping, NH.

A private family burial with military honors will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Beth Israel Lahey Health at Home in Exeter, NH, or to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation-two organizations that held special meaning to Frank and his family.

The Allen family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Frank's compassionate hospice team-Debra, Karen, and Nicole-for their exceptional care and kindness during his final days.
