Gary R. Dickison, 73, of Plymouth, New Hampshire, formerly of South Windsor and East Hartford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center after a brief illness. Born on August 8, 1952, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Gary was the son of the late Russell A. Dickison and Eleanor (Lawson) Arisco.
Gary dedicated over 44 years to the aerospace industry as an inspector, retiring to pursue his lifelong dream of living in New Hampshire-a dream sparked by a childhood comic book ad for land in the state. In retirement, he immersed himself in his passions, building an impressive collection of meticulously crafted model airplanes, tanks, and submarines. A skilled carpenter and gardener, Gary also cherished his time at "Sugarbush Manor," his land in Grafton, where he cleared trails to enjoy the serene woods.
A man of many interests, Gary was an engaging conversationalist, particularly fond of discussing politics, military history, and genealogy, having compiled an extensive record of his family history. His enthusiasm for bargain hunting was legendary; he delighted in scouring grocery circulars and clipping coupons, proudly sharing tales of his savings triumphs. Gary was also a talented cook, renowned for his weekend omelets, and an introspective poet whose thoughtful verses captured his deep reflections on life.
An NRA Lifetime Member and active participant in the Pemigewasset Valley Fish & Game Club, Gary was also a committed member of the Whip-O-Will Resident-Owned Community. His generous spirit shone through in his support for causes like Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Toys for Tots, and Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Each day, Gary expressed his love and gratitude through his heartfelt morning Viking prayer, a testament to his loyal and loving nature.
Gary is survived by his significant other, Terry Bagley of Plymouth, NH; his son, Erik Dickison, and daughter-in-law, Jodie Vogt, of East Hartford, CT; and his beloved min-pin, Jerry. He was predeceased by his wife, Jennifer Dickison; his stepmother, Joan Dickison; stepfather Alex Arisco; and his brother, Glenn Dickison.
Per Gary's wishes, no formal services will be held. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at a gathering on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 33 Ridgewood Place, Plymouth, NH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Department of Medical and Healthcare Advancement, One Medical Center Drive, HB 7070, Lebanon, NH 03756.
Gary's legacy of love, curiosity, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
