Gladys Andrew Obituary

BRENTWOOD - Gladys Mildred Andrew, 89, died Nov. 26, 2011, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, after several years of living with Alzheimer's disease.

She was born on Jan. 15, 1922, in Taunton, Mass., one of three girls born to Harold and Signe Fifield.

"Gally" was raised in Winchester, Mass., where she graduated from Winchester High School, Class of 1940, and then in 1944 earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from New England Baptist School of Nursing.

On Jan. 26, 1946, she married Jack Edward Andrew, and raised three children in Topsfield, Mass.

With a twinkle in her eyes, a merry smile and a glib tongue, Gally enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. She enjoyed a lifelong interest in athletics, especially tennis and swimming.

In 1933, at age 11, she was a swimming champ and won a trophy for a 25-yard race. Gally also loved dancing and playing cards.

Upon their retirement, they moved to Merrymeeting Lake in New Durham, where they lived for 40 years.

Gally was predeceased by her husband of 60 years in 2007. She leaves behind her two daughters, Bonnie Estey of Manchester and Susan Molin of Hampton Falls; one son, Jack Andrew Jr.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind one sister, Murial Ganz of Aspen, Colo. She was predeceased by one sister, Barbara Haynes of Canterbury.

Gally was greatly loved and will be missed by all.

SERVICES: A celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
