Helen E. Holbrook

1920 - 2015

LACONIA - Helen E. Holbrook, 95, of Laconia, died Sept. 9, 2015, at the Genesis Healthcare Laconia Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of William Hollister and Ethel Shaw. Helen was born July 6, 1920, in Bennington, Vt.Helen, an alumna of Tilton School and the New Hampshire Hospital School of Nursing, resided in Lochmere and Laconia prior to moving to Inverness, Fla., with her first husband, Thomas Beaudet, and then returning to Laconia where she spent many happy years with her second husband, Robert Holbrook. A longtime member of the Congregational Church (UCC) of Laconia, Helen will also be remembered as an enthusiastic supporter of Genesis Behavioral Health, DAR, Salvation Army and the LGRH Auxiliary.Helen is survived by her daughter, Elaine Morrison, and companion Richard Smith, of Laconia; son Thomas Beaudet and wife Lani Beaudet of China, Maine; son-in-law Albert Powers and companion Deanna Stillings of Carlisle, Mass.; stepdaughter Janice Gilchrist of Durham, N.C.; stepson Robert Holbrook Jr. of Cape Cod; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.Aside from her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husbands, Thomas Beaudet and Robert Holbrook, both of Laconia; daughter June B. Powers; brothers Edmund O. Twombly, William (Frank) Hollister Jr., Richard C. Hollister and Vernon W. Hollister; sister Clara Twombly Salway; and foster parents Ralph and Maude Bickford.

SERVICES: A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m., at the Laconia Congregational Church (UCC).Interment will be in the White Chapel Cemetery, Bennington, Vt.In lieu of flowers, the family encourages gifts be issued in Helen's memory to Genesis Behavioral Health, Development Office, 111 Church St., Laconia, NH 03246.Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
