Horace T. Whitcher

BRISTOL - Horace Tilton "Bud" Whitcher, 82, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Lakes Region General Hospital after a period of declining health. He was born in New London, the son of Horace A. and Evelyn (Marshall) Whitcher. He graduated from New London High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After returning from his service in the Army, he worked as a finish carpenter in the New London-Sunapee area for most of his life. He was well known for his extensive restoration work done on many old homes and historical societies.

His passion was woodworking and even in his free time, Bud enjoyed making wooden toys for children.

He was a member of the Faith Alive Fellowship in Laconia.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Morrison) Whitcher, of Bristol; children, Ruth Koloski of Claremont, Rebecca Whitcher of Claremont, Daniel Whitcher of Chesapeake, Va., April Messer of Newbury, Matthew Whitcher of Andover, David Whitcher of Wade, N.C., Michael Robbins of North Andover, Mass.; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Palmer, of Sutton; a brother, Robert Whitcher, of Penacook; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Laurel Cronis. and brother Donald Whitcher.

SERVICES: A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 8, at 11:30 a.m., at the Faith Alive Fellowship, 72 Primrose Drive South, Laconia. Burial will follow in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101.
