Jacqueline Sweezy Obituary

Jacqueline Marie Sweezy "Jackie", 81, of Manchester died suddenly June 16, 2024 after a period of declining health. It was a beautiful gift for Jackie to join her loving husband of 40 years, Leonard W. "Bill" Sweezy on Father's Day.

Born in Manchester on September 30, 1942, she was the daughter of Edgar and Marcelle (Vaillancourt) Henault.

She grew up on the west side of Manchester and graduated from Manchester West High School.

She worked in school office administration at St. Catherine's, Trinity High School and most recently for the Manchester School District at West High School. At each of these jobs she developed lifelong friendships. Throughout her life she was always there for her family and friends. She was known for planning elaborate themed parties and bringing people together.

Since retirement, Jackie loved golfing, traveling, and playing cards with her many friends and her younger sister. She was very proud of her 6 grandchildren and was able to spend extended amounts of time with each of them, always attending graduations, recitals, and sporting events.

She is survived by her children, Robin Sweezy of Providence, RI, Vicky Sweezy of Alton, NH and Brett Sweezy of Sandpoint Idaho, and her sister, Sylvia St. Onge of Manchester. She leaves behind her six beloved grandchildren Kaiya Letherer, Shayna Higgins, Jacob Sweezy, Chayton Sweezy, Ezari Maguire and Levi Maguire.

Jackie will be remembered for her kindness and compassion. She will be deeply missed.

Calling hours at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, will be Sunday, June 23rd from 4 to 7 pm. The funeral service will be Monday at 11am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, consider a live plant or a donation made in her memory to the charity of your choice. Jackie was a dear friend. I just recently learned that she passed. She would be happy to be with Bill, but I know that she loved her children and her grandchildren more than life itself. I met Jackie working at West high school and we remain friends forever. She will be missed. My heart aches learning of her passing . She will be missed by so many including students that passed by her desk at West high school. She was so amazing and loving towards her students. May God grant her family peace, knowing how much she loved them. Goodbye my friend. I know we will meet again.

I am sending rather belated wishes of sympathy to Jackie's wonderful family after now hearing about her death. Despite my leaving the Manchester area in 1965 for Fredericksburg, Virginia, my late husband Bernie and I managed to keep in touch with Bill and Jackie over the many years and always cherished a chance to visit or meet out for dinner when we were home in Manchester. We often had visits from Bill here in Virginia which were wonderful surprises and so welcome. While on a road trip for Hermsdorf to various points here in the South, Bill would often take a break, park the huge truck in a secure spot, and walk to our home. "Mr. Sweezy is here!" was a familiar shout from one of our three children. For an hour or so, we would get caught up on the Sweezy family as Bill proudly related the latest news of his dear Jackie and the three little ones. It was a privilege to know them these many years! May Jackie and Bill rest in peace! Kathy Mahoney

An office is only as good as its administrative assistant. Caring, compassionate. Skilled, talented. Thank you, Jackie. Nancy Dorner

Brett, Robyn and Vicky,
Your mom was very special to all of us in the Guidance Department at WHS! Through the years, she kept us all on track and was a fabulous support to us all. She was a role model always keeping active and had a great way with people.
She will be missed by many!

Jackie was one of the kindest and most generous people I have had the pleasure to know. May she rest in peace with the angels and her beloved husband, Bill. Deepest condolences to all her loving family.

I am so sad to learn of Jackie“s passing, She was such a joy to work with at West High, and she earned the respect and admiration of all she worked with, especially our students! We have all lost a "Cherished Friend."
